Family Advocacy

The Family Advocacy Unit is a team of lawyers, paralegals and social workers who, for more than 25 years, have been helping parents involved with the child welfare system maintain custody of or reunite with their children. When possible, we provide advice or representation in the following situations.

Problems We Help With

  • We can help a parent fight to keep her family together when the Philadelphia Department of Human Services (DHS) is investigating allegations of neglect or abuse, and/or during the dependency court process.
  • We can help a parent fight to have her family reunified in cases where children have been removed from her or his home.
  • We can connect a parent with resources and services to help a parent keep their family together or help a parent reunify with her/his children.
