The Employment Unit helps individuals in a variety of cases that involve employment. Where possible, we provide advice, referral, and/or representation in the following cases.
- We help people who are denied jobs because of employment barriers such as criminal records, child abuse records, and disabilities.
- We assist people who are trying to keep their jobs while on medical leaves of absence.
- We represent people trying to obtain employment-related benefits, such as long-term disability or pension (including pensions for surviving spouses as well as workers).
- We help people who are illegally fired, especially if seeking reinstatement.
- We are especially interested in employment cases related with welfare reform and in representation of immigrant workers and ex-offenders.
