The Public Benefits and Welfare Unit at Community Legal Services works with clients to resolve legal problems that arise in many different government benefit programs run by the Social Security Administration, Department of Public Welfare, and the Department of Insurance.
We provide legal representation to clients in the following areas:
Cash assistance (TANF and GA)
Food stamps
Health insurance (Medicaid/Medical Assistance, Medicare, adultBasic, and CHIP)
Child care subsidies
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Cross-cutting issues affecting people with criminal records, immigrants, or domestic violence concerns
Welfare-to-work programs
